7 MarTech tools we love (and use)

Marketing technology (MarTech) is an inseparable part of marketing today. Having the right MarTech stack for your business can optimize workflows, increase productivity and increase the quality and depth of marketing content created.

Here are 7 MarTech tools that we use on a regular basis and can heartily recommend:

Slack
https://slack.com

What is it? An internal messaging app that facilitates team collaboration and file sharing.

Why do we like it? Slack is convenient, easy to use on the go, supports large file uploads and also integrates with third-party productivity tools. We use Slack for meeting notes, sharing random cat pictures, and anything in between.

How much does it cost? Free, with two paid options (US$6.67/month and $12.50/month). The paid options offer more message storage and group calls (the free option only has one-on-one video calls).

What format(s) is this app available in? Web, desktop (Mac OSX and Windows), mobile (iOS and Android)

Mailchimp
https://mailchimp.com/capture-holiday-traffic/

What is it? An email marketing suite that can be used to create and schedule newsletters, EDMs, landing pages and campaign-based emails.

Why do we like it? MailChimp assists you in creating simple, clean marketing emails, which can be targeted towards specific segments of your audience. It also has solid database management tools and EDM reporting tools to measure the success of an email campaign.

How much does it cost? Free, with two paid options (US$10/month and US$199/month). The paid options offer unlimited storage, data testing and comparative analytics options.

SurveyMonkey
https://www.surveymonkey.com

What is it? An online survey creation, response and analysis tool.

Why do we like it? SurveyMonkey is a fuss-free platform that allows surveys to be created in minutes. It has plenty of custom design, data and filtering options. The surveys can also be easily embedded and shared on social media. We use SurveyMonkey to run our previous marketing surveys too (we’ll let you know once we publish the results!)

How much does it cost? Free, with several paid options ranging from US$14 – US$50 per user, per month. The paid options allow more customisation, branding, and storage.

Hemingway App
http://hemingwayapp.com/

What is it? A text editing tool that highlights overly long sentences, adverbs, passive voice and complicated words.

Why do we like it? It facilitates the writing of simple, clean copy by warning you (with the use of coloured highlights) about sentences that are too long and the use of jargons as well.

How much does it cost? Free, with a paid desktop version worth US$19.99. The desktop editor offers additional functionalities such as exporting in multiple formats, direct HTML, WordPress and Medium publishing, and the ability to share highlights.

What is it? A design suite that is used to co-create quick designs of all sorts – social media posts, infographics, and even GIFs.

Why do we like it? Canva provides plenty of customisable templates for quick-and-dirty design creation. The app’s easy drag-and-drop design interface makes it easy to use, even for non-designers.

How much does it cost? Free, with a paid option called ‘Canva for Work’. The paid option offers more templates and illustrations, as well as the uploading of corporate fonts.

What is it? An app that helps you detect and build main colour schemes from pictures.

Why do we like it? Colour schemes are a significant part of corporate branding. The Pantone Studio helps quickly identify major colours from camera snaps or saved designs. It also helps in the building of complementary colour palettes.

Preview

What is it? An app that helps you to organise, design and manage your content for Instagram.

Why do we like it? It’s not just the drag-and-drop features that we adore, there are plenty of hashtag options that we could use for curating content too. We can edit our photos, schedule them and check our analytics to see which post would work well.
