3 Degrees of Kevin Bacon

You may have heard of the game, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

It started out as an innocent comment the prolific American actor made in the early 90s about having worked with pretty much everyone in Hollywood. It then became a game created by movie buffs to prove how connected Bacon is.

Today, it’s easy to Google a celebrity Bacon Number – the degree of separation any actor or actress has from Mr Bacon himself. Type “bacon number ” in Google Search (you’re welcome and say goodbye to 15 minutes of your life).

Trivia: Our company name, 3Degrees, is based on the concept of connections or reducing the degree of separation between you and your target audience with content marketing.

It was a quiet day at the office so we checked the Bacon Number of famous names in Asia and found a surprising number of famous names with a Bacon Number of 2!

There are the usual suspects who are major international names in their own right – Michelle Yeoh (Malaysia), Donnie Yen (Hong Kong), Lea Salonga (Philippines), Gong Li (China), Tony Jaa (Thailand), Amitabh Bachchan (India) and the 14th Dalai Lama (Tibet).

But Rinko Kikuchi (Japan), Jun Ji Hyun (Korea) and Chin Han (Singapore) have also been around (Tinsel)town with a Bacon Number of 2 each.

Asian politicians fared pretty decently. Singapore’s Lee Hsien Loong and Malaysia’s Mahathir Mohamad have a Bacon Number of 3 each.

Aung San Suu Kyi also has a Bacon Number of 3 while Corazon Aquino has a respectable 4.

Even Pauline Hanson has a Bacon Number of 3 while Imran Khan must settle with a 4, for now.
